Most Sleeping Beauty turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with no matrix. It is a favorite of the Zuni Pueblo for use in petit point and inlay jewelry. Some Sleeping Beauty is a deeper blue with a black matrix. The mine outside Globe, Arizona is one of the largest producing turquoise mines in North America. Only about four percent of the stones are natural, the rest being enhances or stabilized.
