Carico Lake turquoise is known for its clear, spring green color. Carico Lake stones can also display a dark blue-green color with a black matrix or other blue tones. It is named for its home on a dried-up lake in Lander County, Nevada. The mine was discovered by Gus Stenich, an ornery loner. As he lay dying, he wrote a will on a bread wrapper leaving the mine to his only friend J.W. Edgar.
